About Dr. Shannon Sticken
Throughout my academic and professional career, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults. My areas of focus during graduate school included working with adolescents and adults who have had difficulty with substance abuse/dependence, as well as general mental health difficulties. I completed my doctoral internship at Pine Grove Behavioral Health and Addiction Services Doctoral Internship in Professional Psychology (formerly the Southern Mississippi Psychology Internship Consortium).
Since 2007 I’ve been working with adults who have difficulty with compulsive sex, love, relationship behaviors and/or loved ones of someone who is struggling. I worked at the Gratitude Program (formerly Gentle Path) in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and trained directly under Dr. Patrick Carnes. I am a clinical psychologist and the owner of Solace Psychological Services. Additionally, I am an approved provider through the PSYPACT Commission for an Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) which allows me to practice telepsychology in participating states in PSYPACT. Please go to https://psypact.org/page/psypactmap to view participating states.

My therapeutic approach is open, genuine, and direct. I provide a comfortable, supportive, and safe place that allows individuals to work on personal life challenges. Together we will work collaboratively to identify unhealthy/problematic thoughts that lead to old patterns of behavior that may not be helpful or useful to you at the present time. I provide supportive, practical, and reality-based feedback that can motivate individuals to strive for a more meaningful relationship with themselves and with others.
